American Filtration was founded by Leon Manning in 1946. Mr. Manning began as a door to door filter salesman, and began selling filters to his friend, Harmon Dobson, for the little hamburger place he had just opened. As Mr. Dobson's business grew, so did Leon's business. The little hamburger place was Whataburger, and both friends enjoyed great success!
When Leon's son, Bill Manning bought the company in the 1980's, the company enjoyed a season of great expansion, providing the needs of the petrochemical companies in the area and growing into multiple markets.
In 2008 the business was purchased by Bill Malatek, who expanded the business into heating & air conditioning, fulfilling a lifelong dream of Leon's.
